Appalachia

In 2014, seeking only my ethnicity, I spit into a cup and had my DNA done. I had no idea they’d match me with actual relatives. So, four years later, when a cousin reached out, I freaked out! Anyhoo, it turns out my biological parents were hillbillies (their word, not mine) from Eastern Kentucky.

This launched me into an eight-year-long journey to learn as much as I could about my family and the place they come from – Appalachia. I’ll be sharing little stories and anecdotes from my experiences.

This should hold ya until my book gets published!

A barn at the mouth of the Cow Branch in Morgan County, Kentucky. This holler is where my mama, Etta Belle, and her cousins are from. I still have “a whole creek full of cousins” there!
